Our degrees in civil engineering are offered with the goal to produce graduates who are schooled in fundamentals and capable of doing advanced engineering work (30 credits). Civil engineers must be equipped with in-depth knowledge of traditional, fundamental principles and new technologies in order to address the complex, interdisciplinary problems faced within society. Our department offers students the necessary background to succeed within this new context and to become future leaders of the profession. Major areas of concentration for this program are: construction engineering and management, environmental engineering and water resource management, solid mechanics, structural engineering, transportation engineering, civil engineering materials, and systems engineering.
The Department of Civil Engineering offers two graduate programs leading to the degrees of Master of Civil Engineering (M.S.):
The M.S. (thesis-option) and M.S. (coursework-only) degrees both contain at least 30 credit hours.
